InterContinental Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport Hotel by IHG

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got a free late check out. A staff member from the hotel walked us from the hotel to our terminal when we checked out. Room service was fast and great. Turn down service was also nice. I used the pool and gym. Both were good. Breakfast included a buffet and a la carte menu. There was a very wide selection of food choices. We also had lunch at the hotel's restaurant. The lunch menu had lots of options as well. Very convenient for a one-night layover. It's a 2-3 minute walk to the airport.

We were looked after very well on this visit ….everyone was courteous and nothing was too much trouble. We arrived in a massive thunderstorm and there were hotel staff waiting at the airport exit with umbrellas for the 1 minute walk in the open to the hotel entrance. The breakfast as always was fabulous and the room was a good size. As IHG members we were given a complimentary drink voucher each which was nice. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel this time though. I really cannot think of anything I disliked, and I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Johannesburg.

I had a wonderful stay at the Intercontinental recently. The only thing I would say is that the entrance was undergoing construction and it was not clear where to enter from the arrivals section. I also think the hotel in general was a bit over priced for what it was but again it is a brand name but I would deduct a couple of point perhaps for value for money tbh. On a positive note, I was VERY happy and impressed by the staff who walked me and my bags all the way from the hotel to my check in desk (up 2 flights on elevators) for the departures upstairs on my check out date. I was a bit nervous navigating the Joburg airport as I hadn't been there before and they were awesome!!! I would come back to this hotel because of their service :)

This hotel is the business. The staff can't do enough for you. They're wonderful. Stayed twice during my trip to South Africa and Botswana safari as a stop over between trips. The location is adjacent to the airport. Walk across from the arrival hall. The rooms are magnificent. Sit watching your tv from your marble bath in your marble bathroom sipping a glass of champagne. So many extras in the room. Staff are wonderful go above & beyond. Food is top notch 👌 restaurant & room service. Breakfast in the morning is the best. Set my alarm for this. Everything is available from a a variety of cooked breakfast options & a buffet. Cereals fruits cheeses breads nuts dried fruit pastries juices. Totally spoilt for choice & they know how to make coffee too. They have a chauffeured mercedes fleet to take you wherever you want to go & will return and collect you when you call. It will be even more super when the terrace is completed along with the garden area. Will definitely be staying at this hotel again when i return to Johannesburg
